Dr. Annie Bukacek, a Strong Advocate for Energy Policies that Put Montana First.
About Dr. Annie Bukacek
I was elected to the Public Service Commission November 8, 2022.
My 2022 campaign slogans were “Let’s Keep the Lights On” and “Keep Montana Energy Independent.” These slogans are an acknowledgement of events that have threatened availability of life-sustaining utilities in other parts of the U.S. and the rest of the world…and the need to avoid such crises in Montana.
Having been a leader in grassroots advocacy for Montanans for over a decade, my passion for advocacy has shifted focus to protecting availability and access to reliable and affordable power, water, and other utilities as we balance the various public interests. I am determined to face the facts squarely, as real solutions can only arise from earnest research and honest evaluation of the problems.
The vast majority of my PSC work has been spent in research-guided decision making and problem solving. I have been involved in this same process in my decades of being a physician, serving Montana patients, listening to their concerns, striving to solve problems to improve the quality of their lives. Despite commercial and government interests that work against the patient-physician relationship, I have continued to place premium value on that relationship… Applying my character and this same value system to the job as PSC, I do my research, study the evidentiary record, apply my proven problem- solving abilities, and am not beholden to environmental or monopolistic special interests.
