CenterPoint said city equipment led to power outage that prompted Houston's water boil notice

The power outage at Houston's East Water Purification Plant that triggered a drop in water pressure leading to the citywide boil-water notice late Sunday night was caused by the city's equipment, according to CenterPoint Energy.

CenterPoint, which delivers power and natural gas to the Houston region, said in an email Monday morning that after officials assessed the company's facilities in the Galena Park and Jacinto City areas, they determined the power issue was "caused by the City's equipment and not related to CenterPoint Energy's system."
